The Minister of Health and Social Protection, Guillermo Alfonso Jaramillo, announced that the departments of Antioquia and Chocó will receive a total of $492.267 million in investments aimed at improving the health system. This declaration was made during a visit to the hospitals in Carepa, Apartadó, and Turbo, in Antioquia.
Of the funds announced, Antioquia will receive $297.809 million. According to Jaramillo, these funds will be allocated to various areas, including strengthening basic health teams with an investment of $228.560 million, and providing $31.847 million for assisted transportation. Additionally, resources will be designated for hospital infrastructure and equipment, as well as for the care of people with disabilities and the settlement of debts.
For the department of Chocó, $194.458 million will be allocated. This amount includes investments in health equipment, assisted transportation, infrastructure, and a specific program for psychosocial support and comprehensive health care for victims.
The announcement was made during the tenth forum organized by the Ministry of Health, where the new Health Reform project was discussed, aiming to strengthen primary care and improve resource management within the health system. The event brought together nearly a thousand representatives from the community and the health sector.
