In a recent speech, President Gustavo Petro emphasized the need to transform Colombia into a nation that prioritizes justice and freedom, warning that the people can no longer live under the current conditions. Petro stressed that it is time for citizens to unite to create a country where understanding and coexistence among diverse groups can thrive.
The president criticized those who, from their desks and in ties, use their power to divert public resources for personal gain, describing them as "the worst bandits." According to Petro, these individuals are responsible for instigating violence by ordering warriors to act without justice, which, in his view, only perpetuates indignity and tarnishes the reputation of the armed forces.
Furthermore, the president underscored that democracy should not be a legacy of surnames or a mechanism to perpetuate power. "They have dedicated themselves to milking Colombia and stealing the budget," he stated, calling for urgent change in how power is exercised in the country. "The time has come," he concluded, urging action to build a more equitable and just future for all Colombians.
