Javier Acosta, a fervent supporter of the football team Millonarios, passed away at the age of 36 after undergoing euthanasia, a process he requested following a five-year struggle against a severe infection that affected his blood and bones. His death occurred on August 30, shortly after being transferred from the San Ignacio Hospital in Bogotá, where he had been hospitalized.

Acosta, who had been clear about his desire to end his suffering after finding no improvement in his condition, bid farewell to his friends on social media just hours before the procedure. In his message, he urged people to cherish every moment with their loved ones, reminding them not to wait until a friend is lost to express their affection.

The San Ignacio University Hospital reported that Acosta's admission was conducted privately at the request of his family and expressed support for the family and friends of the fan during this difficult time. In an emotional gesture, Javier leaned out of a hospital window to say goodbye to the fans who came to show their support.

Acosta's decision has reignited the debate on euthanasia in the country, a sensitive topic that continues to generate diverse opinions in Colombian society.
